Dijalo Property Group celebrates the strength and courage of South African women
Dijalo Property Group joins South Africans in remembering the efforts of women on this day in 1956 when they displayed strength and courage against an oppressive regime.
About 20 000 African women petitioned against discriminatory legislation that required them to also carry the notorious “pass”, a document that would restrict their freedom of movement under the then oppressive apartheid regime.
They left petitions containing more than 100 000 signatures at then prime minister, J.G. Strijdom’s, office door in Pretoria, before singing Wathint’Abafazi Wathint’imbokodo!
This phrase – Now you have touched the women, you have struck a rock – is now closely associated with the strength and courage of women.
It is these traits that have also contributed towards making Dijalo Property Group a winning team.
To show our appreciation, the “Dijalo ladies” received a token of appreciation for their efforts ahead of this important national day.
